Hooray: my passport with the Brazil visa arrived last night! For some reason having a passport and a finalized air itinerary makes an upcoming trip feel much more tangible.
Yesteday, while working at the W1KM contesting station, I grabbed some audio cables, splitters and switchboxes to use while recording the contest. (Some referees will record the contest from their assigned team's headset audio.) I've started gathering up more of documents that I will need down there, and installed the standardized audio recording software. This is the less-interesting preparation phase... soon to be followed by a tortuous session folded up and strapped down in an economy seat on United for the long overnight flight to Sao Paulo. International economy travel on US carriers often resembles those little boxes used for prisoners in medieval castles.

I'll be worth it! Wish I was going --- no, scratch that. Wish I was already there. As a "big" guy, those little airplane seats kill me.

Hope you draw a killer location.
