The "Big" Day Posted: Jul 7, 2006 05:09 PDT
This morning is when the drawing takes place to assign competitors/referee/location. Each competitor team will be called to pick an envelope containing ref/qth; then we will all meet our host. After lunch, off we go to our new home until Sunday morning. With so many sites required (46), some of the qths are up to 4 hour drive away. Once there, if we find that the site is unacceptable, i.e., major line noise, there are 4 alternate sites available but must be chosen prior to start of contest. All referees have cell phones issued by WRTC to stay in touch with Judging committee for such issues and to send hourly scores to HQ. The live scoreboard is very interesting feature but competitors are not allowed to see it during the contest. Rightfully so……

Bruce, WA7BNM Posted Jul 7, 2006 06:36 Actually, I think a truly live scoreboard that could be viewed by contestants during the contest would be an interesting addition to the WRTC.
